Bobcat track & field competes at conference meet

WATERTOWN – The Brookings Bobcats track & field teams competed at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet on Saturday.
The Bobcat girls came in seventh as a team and the boys came in ninth. The Brookings girls had a team score of 64 and the boys had a score of 43. The Brandon Valley boys and Harrisburg girls won the meet.
Brookings in total had 20 individual top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes in the relay races.
The Bobcats will close the season out next weekend at the State Track & Field Meet at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. The meet starts on Thursday and will conclude on Saturday
Girls
Kennedy Ronning led the girlsí team with three top-10 finishes. She came in first in the pole vault with a jump of 12 feet. Ronning came in fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.26 seconds. She also came in sixth in the 200 meter run with a time of 25.82.
Annika Krogman had two top-10 finishes. She came in eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (15.71) and 10th in the 300 meter hurdles (49.84). Kaylie Kuehl also had two top-10 finishes as she came in second in the 3200 meter run (11:15.94) and third in the 1600 meter run (5:07.27).
Hadley Devine came in seventh in the 400 meter run (1:00.25) and Kalla Foerster came eighth (1:01.27) in the same race. The relay team of Foerster, Ella Miller, Krogman, Devine came in fourth in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 4:08.05.
Kendis Sackreiter had two second-place finishes in the field events. She came in second in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet and three inches and also came in second in the discus with a throw of 130 feet and 10 inches. Abigail Buisker came in sixth in the javelin (109-06).

Boys
Jack Griggs came in fifth in the 400 meter run (51.96). Jack Bierman came in ninth in the 1600 meter run (4:43.46) and Marco Springman came in 10th (4.46.54) in the same race.
The relay team of Shane Harming, Springman, Jacksen Bastemeyer and Dylan Harr came in third in the 4x800 relay (8:10.71). Ashton Baker, Harming, Weston Baker and Griggs came in fourth in the 4x400 (3:31.15). Ezra Eidem, Caden Walsh, Griggs and Harming came in fifth in the 1600 Sprint Medley Relay (3:49.21).
Bergan Tetzlaff had the highest finish for the 'Cats on the boys' side, coming in second in the javelin with a throw of 161 feet and four inches. Mason Mathis came in third in the javelin (159-05) and Alex Wainman came in seventh (149-10). Eli Hawks came in eighth in the triple jump (38-04.25).
