Bobcats compete at State Track & Field Meet

Brookings’ Kendis Sackreiter competes in the discusat the State Track & Field Meet over the weekend at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. Sackreiter came in second place.

SIOUX FALLS – The Brookings track & field teams finished the season with 13 top-10 finishes at the State Track & Field Meet at Howard Wood Field over the weekend. There were eight top-10 finishes on the girls’ side and five for the Bobcat boys.

Girls

Kendis Sackreiter was the top finisher for the Bobcat girls as she had two top-five finishes. Sackreiter came in second in the discus with a throw of 122 feet and five inches and she finished in third in the discus with a throw of 38 feet and 11.75 inches.

Kennedy Ronning was the other Bobcat with a top-five finish, coming in third in the pole vault with a jump of 11 feet and nine inches. Ronning also came in eighth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.42.

Kaylie Kuehl had two top-10 finishes. She came in eighth in the 1600 meter run (5:10.16) and seventh in the 3200 meter run (11:04.37).

Brookings had two top-10 finishes in relay races. The team of Ronning, Hadley Devine, Kalla Foerster and Keuhl came in fifth in the 1600 sprint medley relay (4:13.77). Foerster, Ella Miller, Kuehl and Devine came in seventh in the 4x400 meter relay (4:09.10).

Boys

Brookings had three athletes finish in the top 10 of the javelin throw. Mason Mathis came in fifth (166-06), Bergan Tetzlaff finished in sixth (165-04) and Alex Wainman came in eighth (150-03). 

The Bobcats had two relay teams finish in the top 10 on the boys’ side. The team of Ashton Baker, Jack Griggs, Ezra Eidem and Shane Harming came in eighth in the 4x400 meter relay (3:34.62).  Dylan Haar, Marco Springman, Jacksen Bastemeyer and Shane Harming came in fifth in the 4x800 relay (8:16.58).
