Church service planned for Sunday

BROOKINGS — The Brookings Summer Arts Festival and the Brookings Ministerial Association invite all members of the community — including artists, vendors and visitors attending the Brookings Summer Arts Festival — to a special outdoor worship service on Sunday, July 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the Pioneer Park Bandshell.

This annual “Worship in the Park” service is a cherished tradition, led by pastors and leaders from a variety of faith communities across Brookings.

It’s a time for people of all backgrounds to gather in praise and reflection before the bustle of the festival begins.

Please note: Do not park inside the park on Sunday morning. Parking barriers will go up before the service starts, and any vehicles remaining in the park may be towed. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and arrive early to find parking outside the park.

An offering will be taken during the service to support the Brookings Ministerial Association Voucher Program. This vital ministry helps individuals and families who find themselves unexpectedly stranded in Brookings — often while passing through town on their way to another destination. With no local support system, they may be referred to a church or pastor by law enforcement, social services, or a concerned community member.

Through this program, the Ministerial Association can provide a voucher for one night in a hotel, or offer money for food or gas, helping people in crisis take the next step in their journey.

This ministry of compassion has offered real hope to many — travelers whose cars break down, individuals fleeing difficult situations, or families in need of a safe place for the night. Your presence at the service, and your generosity, make this care possible.
