Fly-in breakfast fun ride

Chelsea Acheson and her son Camden, 6, stopped by Brookings Regional Airport July 11 to see some airplanes.

Little did Camden know he would soon be flying over his hometown with his mom and pilot Morgan Myhre, flight instructor and 2025 graduate of SDSU’s aviation program.

The Fly-In Breakfast offered pancakes and “Discovery Flights” with SDSU flight instructors. SDSU airplanes and flight instructors were on standby, allowing community members to explore Brookings’ skies for a donation of $30.

Regional pilots also brought their small airplanes to the event for spectators to see.

The community outreach and fundraising event benefits the Flying Jacks Club and Women in Aviation.
Camden, who is starting kindergarten at Medary Elementary in the fall, where his mom teaches, confirmed the flight was a success. It was his second time flying and his first time in a small plane. He said he is interested in becoming a pilot someday.
