Rangers JV1 skates to home tourney title

Varsity
The Varsity Rangers skated to a third-place finish in the Junior Gold A bracket of their home tournament over the weekend.
Brookings 7, Sioux City Metros 0
Talon Hyde, Mason Diers and Waylon Carroll each scored twice for the Rangers. Cade Zweber had the other Brookings tally.
Jay Harris chipped in four assists for Brookings with Diers and Hyde collecting a pair each. Credit Carson Kludt, Jason Ready, Cade Zweber and Parker Nielsen with helpers as well.
Matthew Bothe turned away 12 shots to earn the shutout, and was also credited with an assist.
Brookings 3, Kansas City Jets 0
Nielsen, Hyde and Tre Christopherson scored for Brookings. Credit assists to Nolan Krogman and Nielsen.
Ryder Anderson earned the shutout in goal, stopping 15 Jets shots.
Edina 6, Brookings 1
Hyde had the lone goal for the Rangers off assists from Krogman and Harris.
Neil Trygstand and Anderson split time in net.
Brookings 7, Kansas City Jets 1
The Rangers beat Kansas City in a Sunday rematch to earn third place.
Christopherson led the way with a hat trick and Jack Lovseth, Diers, Hyde and Jackson Heller all scored.
Harris had four assists and Nielsen had a playmaker for the Rangers.
Diers and Jason Ready had single assists.
Trygstad earned the win in goal, stopping 21 of 22 Jets shots.
JV 1
The junior varsity 1 team won all three games to hoist the trophy on home ice.
Brookings 4, Sioux City Metros 1
Rhys Heiberger, Ethan Foerster, Ty Harris and Cody Jacobson all scored in the win for the Rangers.
Foerster also had an assist, along with Maxten Jensen, Connor Buckley and Cooper Schneider.
Ryder Anderson was in goal for Brookings.
Brookings 5, Rushmore 0
Schneider and Jensen both scored twice and Jacobson also found the back of the net.
Jensen chipped in a pair of assists, with helpers also going to Carter Nielsen, Buckley, Schneider, Foerster and Andrew Haufschild.
Matthew Bothe was in goal for Brookings, making 12 stops to earn the shutout win.
Brookings 4, Edina 0
Jensen scored twice with Schneider and Foerster adding goals in the championship win.
Foerster and Jensen also had assists, as did Jacobson.
Anderson was in goal for Brookings and made 33 saves in the victory.
JV 2
Brookings 6, Aberdeen 0
Un-Hyeng Keay had two goals and an assist and Colt VanMaanen had a goal and a playmaker to lead Brookings.
Tryston Hostler, Ashton Baker and Lucas Hovelson also scored for Brookings. Credit assist as well to Camden Reicks and Grant Horn.
Kansas City Jets 3, Brookings 1
Hovelson had the goal for Brookings with assists to Weston Baker and Keay.
Paxtyn Pottorff was in goal for the Rangers.
Sioux Falls 4, Brookings 1
Isaac Andal had the lone Rangers goal, unassisted.
Pottorff was again in net.
Brookings 2, Sioux City Metros 1
Baker scored both Brookings goals, with assists credited to Horn and Hovelson.
Pottorff got the win, stopping 18 shots.
Bantam A
The Bantam A Rangers swept a pair of games at Rushmore to stay atop their SDAHA league standings.
Brookings 7, Rushmore 2
Weston Diers led the Rangers offense with a hat trick plus an assist. Owen Rounds had a goal and an assist. Deacon Trumbo, Tegan Jensen and Kallen Serfling also scored for Brookings.
Kallen Serfling had a playmaker, as did Oliver Ahmann. Luke Luvaas chipped in a pair of assists and Graham Gerlach had one.
Brayden Brintnall made 11 saves on 13 shots in net to earn the victory.
Brookings 7, Rushmore 3
Serfling led the balanced Rangers attack with a goal and a pair of helpers while Ahmann scored twice and Rounds chipped in a goal and an apple.
Jensen, Thor Zell and Liam Heiberger also scored for Brookings.
Zell, Jensen and Jasper Pitts also had assists.
Warner Carroll was in net and made 12 saves on 15 Rushmore shots to earn the win.
Bantam B
The Bantam B team also swept two games from Rushmore to stay at first place in their league.
Brookings 3, Rushmore 0
Jacob Myhre scored twice, Myles Anderson scored and Gavin Zweibahmer had a pair of assists for Brookings, which put 53 shots on net but only had three goals to show.
Spencer Lovseth also had an assist for Brookings.
Isaac Haufschild and Porter VanderBush split the shutout in goal.
Brookings 6, Rushmore 0
Brookings continued to fire pucks at Thunder goalie Kolton Schauer, scoring six times on 48 shots on net.
Pierson Rohl had a hat trick, Blaine Zweber scored twice and Liam Diercks found twine from the blue line in the win.
Jackson Hahn had five assists for the Rangers, and Zweber, Zweibahmer and Coy Friedrich added helpers.
VanderBush went the distance to earn the shutout.
Pee Wee A
The Brookings Pee Wee A team went 2-2 at a tournament in Fargo.

Yankton 2, Brookings 1
The PWB team dropped a league game on the road.
Xander Reeser had the lone goal for Bookings, assisted by Tate Heiberger.
Sarantis Theodosopoulos turned away 18 of 20 Yankton shots in goal.
