SDSU’s Larson posts personal best in California

AZUSA, Calif. — South Dakota State rounds out competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a pair of Jackrabbit top 10 all-time performances Saturday evening.
Cody Larson posted a personal record to finish 10th in the 1500-meter Invite event. Larson finished at 3:40.37, only 0.22 seconds off from Head Coach Rod DeHaven’s program record of 3:40.15 to become the second-best performer in program history.
The women’s 4X400-meter team posted a program top 10 performance as well. The squad, consisting of Erika Kuntz, Reese Luze, Jenna Johnson and Story Rasby, clocked a time of 3:44.55 to finish in the top 10 and become the fifth-fastest performers in program history.
Rasby and Kuntz also competed in the open 400-meter. Rasby clocked 55.15 to take 20th, while Kuntz finished at 55.62 to place 30th.
Jenna Johnson raced in the 400-meter hurdles, where she finished 21st with a time of 1:02.24.
Joe Dustin, Dale Johnson and Keaton Olson raced in the 1500-meter Open C competition. Dustin clocked a time of 3:54.08 to finish in the top 10, Dale Johnson crossed the line at 3:54.20 to take 13th and Olson clocked 3:54.78 to place 17th. On the women’s side, Madalyn Childs posted a time of 4:43.77 to take 30th of 136 competitors.
Five Jackrabbits competed in the women’s 1500-meter Open B event. Nina Dawson posted a time of 4:31.89 to take 27th, while Hannah Spoden finished two spots behind her in 29th with a time of 4:32.00.
Nora Peterson clocked 4:36.51 to finish 75th. Emma Ecker crossed the line at 4:40.58 to take 107th and Kelsey Schmidt posted a time of 4:43.63 to place 135th of 188 competitors. On the men’s side, Sean Murphy finished with a time of 4:02.35.
