Local talent set for pride event

Brookings residents are invited to participate in the annual celebration of LGBTQ+ and Two Spirit Pride. The festival will occur at the Pioneer Park bandshell on Saturday, June 27 from 11 am – 3 pm.
The festival will feature two performers who grew up in Brookings. Musician Eric Holm will be performing songs he has composed.
Local drag performer Kasy Kain will highlight the all ages family friendly drag show. Kasy will be joined by South Dakota performers Stola and Polly along with two Minnesota performers.
The mayor will be issuing a pride proclamation at the beginning. A DJ will be providing interval music.
There will be around 30 vendor booths including commercial, arts & crafts, and non-profit organizations.
La Petite Crepe and the Patty Wagon food trucks along with United Church of Christ walking tacos and the Episcopal Church snow cones will be providing food & drink.
The city’s pride flags are currently on display in downtown Main Avenue from June 21 – 28. The Brookings Human Rights Commission is a co-sponsor of the event.
