Rangers host annual Puck Cancer fundraiser

BROOKINGS — The Rangers held their fifth annual Puck Cancer fundraisers, with games at Larson Ice Center on Saturday running from early morning until past 11 p.m.
BISA raised more than $8,000 this year.

Boys Varsity
The boys varsity Rangers skated to a win and a tie over the weekend.

Brookings 4, Sioux Falls East 1
Brookings fell in an early hole, but then scored four straight to earn the SDAHA win on the road at Sioux Falls.

Talon Hyde, Jason Ready, Jay Harris and Cade Zweber had the goals for the Rangers. Credit a pair of assisst to Nolan Krogman, with Harris, Zweber, Maxten Jensen, Carson Kludt and Ready each having one.

Neil Trygstad made 20 saves between the pipes to earn the win.

Brookings 2, Watertown 2 (OT)
The visiting Lakers escaped with a tie as Watertown goalie Kohl Nygaard made 47 saves.

Ready and Parker Nielsen scored for Brookings. Credit assists to Krogman, Zweber and Mason Diers.

Ryder Anderson was in net for Brookings and made 14 stops on 16 shots.

Girls Varsity
The Rangers swept a pair on the weekend to stay atop the SDAHA standings.

Brookings 2, Aberdeen 0
Sawyer Triplett had a goal and an assist, Kinzey Grendler scored and the Rangers shut out the Cougars on the road.

Miyah Foerster and Julissa Peterson had an assist for Brookings.

Rorii Quam stopped all 19 Aberdeen shots to earn the shutout in goal.

Brookings 2, Watertown 0
The Rangers blanked the Lakers at home with Quam going the distance once again.

Triplett and Grendler scored for Brookings, with Peterson and Ava Kahle credited with assists.

Brookings outshot Watertown 39-25.

JV
Sioux Falls East 3, Brookings 1 0
The JV 1 team was shutout on the road Friday night. 

Matthew Bothe made 28 saves on 31 shots between the pipes.

Brookings 1 4, Watertown 2
Cooper Schneider, Rhys Heiberger, Ethan Foerster and Ty Harris all scored for Brookings.

Mavrick Bortnem had a pair of assists, as did Foerster. Cody Jacobson also had a helper. 

Matthew Bothe made 14 saves in goal to secure the win.

Brookings JV 2-3, Brookings JV 1-1
The untethered JV team skated past the other Brookings team on Sunday.

Ashton Baker, Un-Hyeng Keay and Lucas Hovelson scored for the winning Brookings team. Carter Nielson scored off a feed from Cody Jacobson for the other Brookings team.

Paxtyn Pottorff and Matthew Bothe were in net for Brookings.

Girls JV
The Girls JV team skated past Yankton 6-0 to remain unbeaten in league play.

Brookings 6, Yankton 0
Brookings featured six different scorers in the win — Kennedy Hanson, Lorelei Koch, Kinley Foerster, Audrey Andal, Jordyn Ballis and Brooke Kruse.

Credit a pair of assists to Foerster, with solo helpers to Foerster, Jordyn Anderson, Andal and Beatrix Hovey-Stubbles.

Avery Dentlinger made all 18 saves to earn the shutout victory.

14U Girls
Brookings 4, Watertown 2
Andal scored twice, and was joined by Hovey-Stubbles and Kruse.

Ava Vaughn earned the win in net.

Aberdeen 2, Brookings 1
Kruse had the lone goal for Brookings, which led until the third period.

Vaughn was in net for the Rangers.

Brookings 1, Huron 0
Birklee Kruse scored the game winner in the third period off feds from Hanson and Ballis, and Vaughn made it stand up in net, stopping all nine shots she saw.

Pee Wee A
Brookings 10, Pierre 0
The Rangers blew out the Capitals at home. 

Theo Treml had a hat trick, Finn Konechne and Sutton Jensen scored twice and Elliott Ahmann, Cooper Hyde and Hendrix Schmeichel all scored as well for Brookings.

Brodie Bahe had a pair of assists and Jensen, Konechne, Kaden Ziegeldorf and Colton Hendricks chipped in one each.

Nash Billings stopped all nine shots he saw to earn the shutout win.

Pee Wee B
The Rangers split a pair with Aberdeen on the road.

Brookings 4, Aberdeen 3
Otto Hasselhorst, Evan Rounds, Knox Frericks and Graham Itterman had goals in the victory for Brookings. Credit assists to Rounds, Itterman and Avery Swisher.

Sarantis Theodosopoulos made 14 saves in goal to earn the win.

Aberdeen 5, Brookings 3
Swisher scored a pair of goals and Frericks added one for Brookings. Swisher also had an assist.

Theodosopoulos made 25 stops in goal.
