BROOKINGS — Brookings Radio is now locally owned and operated.
Effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Connoisseur Media has sold all five Brookings radio stations to Brookings Radio, LLC — a group locally owned and operated by Cami Powers, her husband Derrick Powers and her brother Chad Hogie.
Cami Powers began her career in radio in 1994 and became Brookings Radio station manager in 2000. She said local ownership has been a long-term goal for her.
“This has been about a 30-year dream for me and to turn this into reality has been incredibly meaningful,” Powers said. “Together we’ll continue to build on what we value most — serving our clients, listeners and community with trusted, locally focused broadcasting.”
The transfer from corporate to local ownership was announced March 25. After receiving regulatory approval by the FCC this summer, the ownership of all five radio stations officially transferred to Brookings Radio, LLC on July 1.
Brookings Radio, LLC operates KBRK-AM and KBRK-FM licensed to Brookings, SD, KDBX-FM licensed to Clear Lake, SD and KJJQ-AM and KKQQ-FM, licensed to Volga, SD.
