Ranger girls extend winning streak

Girls Varsity
The Brookings girls swept a pair of league games over the weekend to move into first place in the state.
Brookings 4, Aberdeen 0
Rorii Quam turned away all 24 Cougars shots in a shutout win.
Anna Rasmussen led the Rangers scoring attack with a goal and two assists. Grace DeVries, Sawyer Triplett and Kinzey Grendler also scored for the Rangers. Credit assists to Lorelei Koch, Khloe Ziegeldorf, Brooke Kruse, Graciana Peterson and Miyah Foerster.
Brookings had 40 shots on goal.
Brookings 4, Sioux Falls 2
The Rangers never trailed in handing the Flyers their first league loss.
Triplett and DeVries scored in the first period, and Grendler and Rasmussen added on. Grendler also added a pair of assists, with Foerster and Emily Meyer also getting helpers.
The Flyers outshot the Rangers, but Quam turned away 35 of 37 to earn the tough win.
Boys Varsity
The Brookings boys varsity team also swept a pair of SDAHA contests.
Brookings 12, Mitchell 0
The Rangers thumped the Marlins at home. Jay Harris had a hat trick and Mason Diers and Carson Kludt each scored twice. Credit single goals to Maxten Jensen, Parker Nielsen, Talon Hyde, Nolan Krogman and Cade Zweber.
Ryder Anderson stopped 10 Marlin shots to earn the shutout win.
Brookings 4, Aberdeen 0
Brookings finished the weekend sweep at Aberdeen on Saturday.
Harris had a pair of goals, with Diers and Cooper Schneider also finding the back of the net.
Diers also chipped in a pair of assists. Credit single apples to Jensen, Mauer Bartley, Hyde, Nielsen, Jason Ready and Connor Buckley.
Neil Trygstad made 10 saves to earn the shutout between the pipes.
JV1
Brookings 5, Mitchell 1
Connor Buckley scored twice, Andrew Haufschild had a goal and two assist while Rhys Heiberger and Ty Harris also had goals. Ethan Foerster had a pair of assists and Carter Nielsen and Atwood Ahmann had one each.
Matthew Bothe made 14 saves to earn the win.
Brookings 2, Aberdeen 1 (OT)
Jason Ready scored just under 3 minutes into the extra session to win it for the Rangers.
Ready also had the only Brookings goal in regulation.
Bothe stopped 20 pucks to earn the victory.
JV2
Brookings 3, Huron 1
Un-Hyeng Keay, Grant Horn and Lucas Hovelson scored for the Rangers as they downed the All Stars.
Keay an Colt VanMaanen were credited with assists.
Paxtyn Pottorff made 19 saves in the win.
Sioux Falls East 3, Brookings 1
VanMaanen had the lone goal for the Rangers in a tight-checking affair that saw the Flyers and Brookings total just 21 shots between them both. Landon Schumacher had the assist.
Pottorff made 8 stops between the pipes.
U14 girls
Sioux Falls Flyers 8, Brookings 0
Ava Vaughn made 14 stops in net as the Rangers were outshot and shut out.
Bantam A
The Bantam A Rangers swept a pair over the weekend to stay atop their league table.
Brookings 8, Aberdeen 0
Brookings cruised past the Cougars behind a balanced offensive attack.
Kallen Serfling led Brookings with a hat trick and pair of assists. Graham Gerlach, Owen Rounds, Oliver Ahmann, Thor Zell and Luke Luvaas also found twine for the Rangers.
Weston Diers had a playmaker and assists also went to Branch Otteson, Rounds and Ahmann.
Warner Carroll made 6 saves in net to earn the shutout.
Brookings 7, Sioux Falls 0
Weston Diers scored the first six goals for the Rangers and Zell added one late to thump the Flyers.
Ahmann had a playmaker and Serfling, Zell and Luvaas had two assists each. Jasper Pitts added a helper.
Carroll made 7 saves in the shutout.
Bantam B
The Rangers Bantam B team also swept a league pair to remain in first place.
Brookings 7, Aberdeen 0
Myles Anderson had a hat trick and an assist, Blaine Zweber added a pair of goals and Jackson Hahn and Gavin Zweibahmer each scored for Brookings.
Coy Friedrich had a pair of assists, and
Zweibahmer, Anderson and Jacob Myhre each added a helper.
Isaac Haufschild made 11 saves in the shutout win.
Brookings 4, Sioux Falls 2
The Rangers jumped out to an early lead and Haufschild made it stand up.
Hahn had two goals and an assis for Brookings and Zweibahmer and Friedrich also scored.
Anders had two assists, while Pierson Rohl, Zweber and Liam Diercks also had apples.
Haufschild made 16 saves in the win.
Pee Wee A
The Pee Wee A Rangers swept a pair over the weekend to take the top spot in their SDAHA standings.
Brookings 6, Mitchell 1
Cooper Hyde scored twice, Theo Treml had a goal and two assists and Sutton Jensen, Joey Francisco and Kaden Ziegeldorf all scored as Brookings got past the Marlins.
Max Harris added a pair of assists and Colton Hendricks had one for Brookings.
Nash Billings made five of six saves for the win.
Brookings 4, Sioux Falls 1
Elliot Ahmann scored twice, and Hyde and Harris each scored as the Rangers downed the Flyers.
Credit helpers to Treml, Ziegeldorf and Francisco.
Billings again made five saves in the win.
