Boys varsity, bantam teams earn big wins

Boys Varsity
The Rangers got a SDAHA road win on Saturday night at Watertown

Brookings 5, Watertown 1
Jason Ready scored twice late, and Talon Hyde, Nolan Krogman and Cade Zweber all had tallies for Brookings.

Parker Nielsen had two helpers. Credit single assists to Jay Harris, Cooper Schneider, Ready and Waylon Carroll.

Neil Trygstad stopped nine pucks in the win.

Girls Varsity
The Rangers girls dropped a matchup of the top two teams in the league on the road at Sioux Falls but picked up two wins on the weekend.

Sioux Falls 4, Brookings 2
Sawyer Triplett scored for the Rangers off a pass from Ava Kahle.

Kinzley Grendler had the other goal off feeds from Anna Rasmussen and Audrey Andal.

Rorii Quam was stellar in goal, turning away 32 Flyers shots as Brookings was outshot 36-10.

Brookings 3, Watertown 0
Grendler scored twice and Rasmussen also scored for the Rangers.

Credit assists to Miyah Foerster, Khloe Ziegeldorf and Maya Edmison.

Quam stopped all 20 shots she saw to earn the shutout win.

Brookings 5, Mitchell 1
Grendler, Sawyer Triplett, Rasmussen, Brooke Kruse and Julissa Peterson scored for the Rangers.

Rasmussen had two assists, as did Grendler. Foerster, Kahle and Triplett also recorded helpers.

Quam stopped 23 of 24 shots in net to earn the win.

Boys JV
Brookings JV 1 4, Watertown 0
Cooper Schneider scored twice and the JV1 Rangers handled the Lakers in Watertown.

Maxten Jensen and Ty Harris also scored for Brookings.

Credit assists to Schneider, Jensen, Ethan Foerster and Mavrick Bortnem.
Matthew Bothe made 15 stops in net to earn the shutout victory.

Brookings JV 2 3, Brandon Valley 1
The Rangers stormed back for three goals in the third period to win on the road.

Isaac Andal scored twice and Grant Horn had a goal and an assist for Brookings.

Paxtyn Pottorff made 17 saves in goal and assisted on Horn’s empty netter to boot.

Girls JV
The Girls JV team split a pair of games on the weekend — falling at Sioux Falls on Friday before beating Mitchell at home on Sunday.

Sioux Falls 2, Brookings 1
Brooke Kruse had the lone goal for the Rangers off feeds from Khloe Ziegeldorf and Kahlei Foerster.

Ava Vaughn made 9 saves in goal for Brookings.

Brookings 2, Mitchell 1
Jordyn Anderson scored for Brookings off a pass from Kennedy Hanson and Lorelei Koch found the net unassisted for the game-winner.

Avery Dentlinger made 10 saves to earn the win between the pipes.

Bantam A
The Brookings squad won a battle between top teams in the Bantam A division in Watertown on Saturday.

Brookings 8, Watertown 1
Kallen Serfling scored four times, Weston Diers had a goal and a playmaker and the Rangers routed the Lakers.

Graham Gerlach had a goal and an assist for Brookings, as did Jasper Pitts.

Thor Zell and Branch Otteson had two helpers each. Credit a single assist to Luke Luvaas in the win.

Brayden Brintnall stopped 8 of 9 pucks he saw to earn the win in goal.

Bantam B
Brookings won a tight battle between the top two teams in the Bantam B standings on the road.

Brookings 4, Brandon Valley 3
Myles Anderson had a hat trick for the Rangers and Blaine Zweber also scored.

Credit assists to Jackson Hahn and Coy Friedrich.

Isaac Haufschild was strong in net, making 30 saves to earn the win.

14U Girls
The Rangers won one on the road and one at home on the weekend.

Brookings 4, Watertown 2
Brooke Kruse had a hat trick, Kahlei Foerster had a pair of assists and Birklee Kruse scored for the Rangers.
Ava Vaughn made 16 stops in net to earn the victory.

Brookings 2, Mitchell 1
The Rangers scored a pair in the third to earn the win.

Jordyn Ballis got Brookings on the board unassisted and Brooke Kruse tucked in the game winner off feeds from Kinley and Haklei Foerster for Brookings.

Vaughn stopped 13 of 14 pucks she saw.

Pee Wee A
The Pee Wee A Rangers stayed all alone in first place in the league standings with a road drubbing of Watertown.

Brookings 13, Watertown 0
Theo Treml had a hat trick and a helper, Ryker Schumacher had two goals and two assists, Finn Konechne dropped two goals and a playmaker and Kaden Ziegeldorf scored twice in the Brookings rout.

Credit single Rangers goals to Sutton Jensen and Callen Fogelson.
Give assists to Jensen, Ziegeldorf, Elliott Ahmann, Fogelson and Hendrix Schmeichel.

Juke Anderson was in goal as Brookings outshot the home team 45-1.

Pee Wee B
The Rangers Pee Wee B team dropped a pair on the weekend.

Brandon Valley 8, Brookings 0
The Rangers fell in a road tilt Saturday.

Brookings was outshot 32-19 as Henry Dangel and Sarantis Theodosopoulos split time in goal.

Sioux Falls Orange 3, Brookings 2 (OT)
A valiant comeback effort fell just short in overtime in Brookings on Sunday. Otto Haselhorst got Brookings even at one in the second period.

Graham Itterman then took a Bradley Cox feed and tied the game at 2 with 2:44 left to play in regulation.

Theodosopoulos made 19 saves on 22 shots between the pipes for the Rangers.
