Three teams clinch league championships

Boys Varsity
The Rangers split a pair of home games over the weekend.
Yankton 5, Brookings 1
The Bucks were all over the Rangers in the first period, and Brookings never got its offense in gear in a home loss.
Mauer Bartley got the lone Brookings goal off a pass from Jackson Heller.
Neil Trygstad and Ryder Anderson split time in net.
Brookings 9, Brandon Valley 1
Jason Ready had a hat trick and an assist, Talon Hyde had a hat trick and an assist and the Rangers thumped the Ice Cats.
Credit goals to Cooper Schneider, Maxten Jensen and Jay Harris. Harris also had two assists, as did Cade Zweber, Mason Diers and Heller. Single assists also went to Nolan Krogman, Caleb Johnson and Parker Nielsen.
Anderson and Bothe split time evenly in the win.
Boys Junior Varsity
The Brookings JV 1 team swept a pair of home games to stay atop their league standings over the weekend.
Brookings 5, Yankton 3
Maxten Jensen scored twice and Brookings scored a comeback win.
Also scoring for Brookings were Ty Harris, Jack Lovseth and Connor Buckley.
Credit assists to Colin Jacobson, Cody Jacobson, Elijah DeBoer and Buckley.
Matthew Bothe made 13 saves to earn the win in goal.
Brookings 5, Brandon Valley 2
Ethan Foerster scored twice in the Rangers win.
Cooper Schneider, Jensen and Rhys Heiberger also scored for Brookings. Give assists to Buckley, Foerster and Heiberger.
Bothe made 16 saves to earn the victory.
The Brookings JV2 team earned two wins in three tight league games over the weekend.
Sioux Falls West 3, Brookings 2
Un-Hyeng Keay and Isaac Andal scored for Brookings but the Flyers scored with no time on the clock somehow. Credit Ashton Baker with an assist.
Paxtyn Pottorff made 23 saves in goal.
Brookings 2, Sioux Center 1
Brookings outshot the visitors from Iowa 49-24 but just came away with the one-goal win.
Weston Baker scored off a feed from Colt VanMaanen and Jeremiah Hovey found the twine off a Grant Horn pass for the Rangers.
Pottorff made that stand up, making 23 saves between the pipes.
Brookings 4, Watertown 2
The Rangers streaked out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the win.
Tryston Hostler had a pair of goals and Horn and VanMaanen added one each for Brookings.
Maxx Anderson had a playmaker and Beau Luvaas, Hostler, VanMaanen and Horn each had helpers.
Pottorff made 25 stops to earn the win.
Bantam A
The Bantam A Rangers team won a pair at home to clinch their league title and the top seed at the state tournament in two weeks.
Brookings 11, Pierre 0
The Rangers outshot the Capitals 41-4 in a dominant win.
Weston Diers and Tegan Jensen recorded hat tricks and Branch Otteson had a playmaker for Brookings.
Also scoring goals were Graham Gerlach, Jasper Pitts, Deacon Trumbo, Luke Luvaas and Oliver Ahmann.
Diers chipped in two assists and credit singles to Kallen Serfling, Gerlach, Luvaas, Ahmann, Owen Rounds, Liam Heiberger and Jensen.
Brayden Brintnall earned the shutout win in net.
Brookings 7, Watertown 2
The Rangers blew open what was a 2-all game in the second with five unanswered goals.
Rounds had two goals and two assists, as did Thor Zell. Ahmann had a goal and two helpers. Diers scored twice and Serfling added an assist.
Warner Carrol made four saves in the win.
The Bantam A Rangers have two league games left this weekend before travelling to Yankton as the top seed in the state tournament the following weekend.
Bantam B
The Bantam B Rangers won their next-to-last league game at home to remain unbeaten in regulation in league play and clinch at least a share of a league title.
Brookings 7, Sioux Center 0
After a slow start that found both teams at zero after one period, Brookings rattled off 7 unanswered goals to take the win and league crown.
Pierson Rohl scored twice and Jackson Hahn, Blaine Zweber, Gavin Zweibahmer, Myles Anderson and Coy Friedrich, who is still a defenseman, also scored for the Rangers.
Zweibahmer had a playmaker for the Rangers while Friedrich, Anderson and Hahn had two apples each. Rohl, Zweber and Daniel Howey also had assists.
Isaac Haufschild made all 10 saves in goal to earn the shutout victory.
Brookings plays one more league game at Pierre this weekend before state tournament play the following weekend in Aberdeen.
U14 Girls
The U14 Girls Rangers team went 1-3 at a tough tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, over the weekend.
Madison 8, Brookings 1
Brooke Kruse scored the lone goal and Ava Vaughn made 23 saves in goal.
Milwaukee Co-op 9, Brookings 2
Kruse and Kahlei Foerster scored for Brookings, with both coming on the power play. Vaughn made seven saves in goal.
Madison Dragons 4, Brookings 1
The Rangers dropped a tough one, as the game was tied at 1 heading into the third and they outshot the Dragons 15-14.
Kahlei Foerster had the lone goal for the Rangers and Vaughn made 11 saves.
Brookings 6, St. Louis 1
Following pool play, the Rangers notched a win in the cross-bracket round.
Kruse had a hat trick — and a pair of shorthanded goals — to lead the Rangers.
Vaughn made 15 saves to earn the win. The victory moved Brookings into 4th place for the tournament.
The U14 girls have two more games left in the regular season, vs. Sioux Center on Feb. 20 at Larson Ice Center and at Pierre on Feb. 21. Their state tournament is the following weekend and they are currently the third seed with a 10-6 mark in league play.
Pee Wee A
The Pee Wee A Rangers swept three games to remain unbeaten in SDAHA play and capture a league championship on the final weekend of regular season play.
Brookings 3, Sioux Falls 1 2
In a thriller at Larson Ice Center on Friday night, the Rangers beat second-place Sioux Falls.
Ryker Schumacher, Brodie Bahe and Kaden Ziegeldorf had the goals for Brookings. Credit assists to Sutton Jensen and Elliott Ahmann.
Juke Anderson made 15 saves in net to win it for the Rangers.
Brookings 19, Sioux Falls 2 0
Ziegeldorf and Jensen scored four times each, Treml had a hat trick and a playmaker, Ahmann scored twice and added five assists and the Rangers pummeled the Flyers.
Also scoring for Brookings were: Schumacher (2), Konechne, Colton Hendricks, Hendrix Schmeichel and Max Harris.
Jensen added two assists, Konechne had four helpers, and Harris, Ziegeldorf and Schmeichel also chipped in.
Nash Billings went the distance in goal to earn the shutout.
Brookings 4, Pierre 2
The Rangers sewed up their league crown with a road win on Sunday at Pierre.
Ahmann scored twice, Treml found the net and Schumacher scored again for Brookings.
Credit assists to Cooper Hyde, Ahmann (2) and Ziegeldorf.
Anderson made seven saves in net to earn the win.
The PWA Rangers enter their state tournament at home as the top seed and play at 7 p.m. on Friday night against Sioux Falls 2.
Pee Wee B
The Pee Wee B Rangers finished their regular season with a pair of wins in league play.
Brookings 4, Sioux Falls 2 0
Avery Swisher and Knox Frericks each scored twice and the Rangers blanked Sioux Falls at home.
Liam Nelson had the lone Brookings assist and Sarantis Theodosopoulos turned away 12 Flyers shots to earn the shutout victory.
Brookings 3, Sioux Falls 12UG 2
Frericks, Swisher and Graham Itterman had a goal and an assist each and the Rangers got another home win on Saturday.
Nicholas Hansons and Maddox Chandler also had assists for Brookings.
Theodosopoulos was again in net, turning away 19 shots to earn the win.
Sioux Falls 2 2, Brookings 1
The Flyers won the rematch at home. Itterman had the lone goal for the Rangers off a feed from Frericks. Henry Dangel made 10 saves between the pipes. The Rangers head to the PWB state tournament in Huron this weekend. The Rangers hold the sixth seed and open with third-seeded Yankton at 1 p.m. on Friday.
