Letters to the editor: Legislator Meet & Greet Coming Soon

Most of us are probably thinking more about holiday plans than about the 2026 state legislative session will begin. But it’s not too early to get a glimpse of what’s to come or even to meet the hard-working elected officials from District 7 and District 8.

To that end, the League of Women Voters of the Brookings Area invites the public to join us for a Legislator Meet and Greet for Districts 7 and 8 on Wednesday, Dec. 10th, 6:00-7:15 pm at the Brookings Public Library, Cooper Room. Brown bags are welcome.

The League works to empower voters and defend democracy, and we are committed to providing a nonpartisan space for civic engagement. We do not endorse or oppose any candidate or political party. The event is about getting to know our legislators, building  understanding, and exploring ideas that can strengthen our community.

In a panel-style format, legislators will introduce themselves and share a priority they see as important for our community this year.

After introductions, the moderator will start the conversation with a single question. Legislators will each have time to respond, and then the floor will open for audience questions. Audience members may submit questions in writing at the welcome table or raise their hands during the question and answer segment.

This is a perfect opportunity to get to know our legislators better and get a sense of what might be decided in Pierre this winter.
